Hi Everyone,
Any recommendations on Hot Water Systems?
I'm thinking the Evacuated Tube System with a holding tank is the way to go?
Does anyone use this now and how effective are they?
We are off the grid completely - solar power only and LPG for cooking.

I am dying to know more about solar hot water too. We have a place in Northern NSW that is almost completely self sufficient except for LPG for cooking and for heating water. The house has a composting toilet, grey water and solar for power. OH and rainwater tanks for....water!

We have a slow combustion stove with a water jacket for heating (and cooking) but we are getting an evacuated tube system as well so I don't have to run the stove in the heat of summer.

My neighbours have the same system with a holding tank and they always have hot water. In the middle of winter on a grey day when I go over to look after their animals the steam release is usually whirring and spitting away (I was worried something was going to explode first time I was there until I figured out what it was!). They haven't had any problems with theirs (its only about 2 years old though) and as I said, they always have hot water even after a week of gloomy days.
